Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a lead author of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), today applauded the new sanctions imposed by the administration against Russia for malicious cyber-attacks and interference in the 2016 elections. The U.S. also signed a joint statement with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom condemning the use of a banned nerve agent in Britain and allegations of Russia’s involvement in the attack.
“The administration continues to use the diverse tools at its disposal, including CAATSA, to push back against Putin’s aggression,” said Senator Corker.
“I applaud the president for joining with us to make clear that the U.S. stands with our allies in the face of Russia’s destabilizing behavior.”
