Gardenhire, Tom Morris, Sr.

Tom Morris Gardenhire Sr., 84, East Ridge, passed away March 21, 2018.  Tom was born Aug. 15, 1933 to William Dowlin and Alice Wilson Gardenhire.  He was a graduate of City High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Tom served in the United States Army.  He was in real estate, home building and owned/operated the Red Top Furniture & Hobby Shop.  Tom was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. 

Tom is preceded in death by his first wife Gillie Yvonne Carter Gardenhire; son, Michael Carter Gardenhire; sister, Ellen Frances Garvey; and brothers, Shirley Eldridge Gardenhire and William Dowlin Gardenhire. 

Survivors are his wife of 10 years, Joyce Harvey Gardenhire; daughter, Denise Angela Pugsley (David); son, Tom Morris Gardenhire Jr. (Paige); grandchildren, Amanda Pugsley, Brooke Pugsley, Catherine Pugsley, Deanna Brown (Stephen), Tate Gardenhire, Tom Morris Gardenhire III, Trell Gardenhire, Graham Steakley and Elijah Gardenhire; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 24 at 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Eric Johnson officiating.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
