James Floyd Scarbrough, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Memorial Hospital Hixson, following a brief illness.  He was 56 years old.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Scarbrough, Jim will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Mary (Charlie) Scarbrough and by his sister Carol (Steve) Newton.  He will also be forever remembered by his niece, Wendy (Daniel) Nesmith and his great nephews Benjamin and Jonathan Nesmith. 

A native of Hixson, Jim attended the University of Tennessee and proudly served in the United States Navy.  He spent his career in jobs serving the public, from his years spent caring for patients at Memorial Hospital Hixson and other health care facilities, to his most recent employment as a sales associate at Southeastern Salvage. 

Jim’s family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 19, from 6–8 p.m., at the Chattanooga Funeral Home – North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga.

Memorial donations in memory of Jim may be made to CHI Memorial Hospital Foundation, 2525 de Sales Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37404. Jim’s family wishes to express our sincerest appreciation to the physicians and staff of Memorial Hospital Hixson for their compassionate and loving care. The care you provided truly reflected the love of Christ and will forever be a source of comfort to us.
