Roderick Jones Killed On Ely Road Early Saturday Morning In Hit-And-Run Accident

Roderick Jones was struck and killed early Saturday morning on Ely Road in a hit-and-run accident.

Chattanooga Police said he was walking in a lane of travel around 2 a.m. when a car hit him. The driver came to a stop, but then fled the scene without rendering aid.

Police are looking for the driver, who witnesses described as a black man with a short hair cut. The suspect vehicle was described as being a mid 2000s model sedan, black or very dark in color. Based on evidence collected at the scene, the suspect vehicle is most likely a Hyundai but the model and year are unknown. The suspect vehicle has not been located at this time. 

The victim was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department.
