Janet Ruth Mullinax, 81, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018, at a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1936 in Moline, Illinois to the late Carl and Sadamae Mangelsdorf. She graduated in 1954 from North Augusta High School in Augusta, Ga. Janet was blessed to be a homemaker and mother for the last 59 years where she loved her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church and was very active in the church. She was involved in Social Ministry and was a part of the Stained Glass Committee. Janet was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Mullinax. They were married on Jan. 17, 1958, at First Lutheran Church of Chattanooga. Janet and Don were the owners of Mullinax Lincoln Mercury. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Dr. Carl Mangelsdorf Jr., Richard C. Mangelsdorf, Donna Jean Hett, and Judith Irene Rose and son in law Brian Campbell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children: Craig Mullinax and wife Jane of Ooltewah, Cindy Castelow and husband Shane of Cleveland, Christy Campbell of Cleveland, Alan Mullinax and wife Jodi of Cleveland; grandchildren: Chelsey Campbell, Cadey Campbell, Carson Robins (Caleb), Tyler Mullinax, Corey Mullinax, Adam Mullinax and Andrew Mullinax; sister Joan A Vanderzee; sister-in-law Virginia Mullinax; great nephews Dr. Ryan Barnes and Brandon Barnes. In addition to these, Janet leaves behind many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27. A funeral service will take place at 5:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor Robert Seaton. All visitation and services will take place at First Lutheran Church at 195 McIntire Ave., Cleveland, Tn. 37311. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First Lutheran Church at the address listed above.
