The Prudhomme Fort Chapter of Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century hosted an award event for a Quilt of Valor presentation at The Tea Cottage. Speaker, Karen Downer, Tennessee State coordinator for the QOV organization, presented a handmade patriotic quilt to U.S. Army MSGT (Ret.) Sandy Hughes. A second quilt was given to her husband (as a surprise), U.S. Army SGT (Ret.) Tom Hughes, Vietnam Veteran.
The quilts were handmade, with added information sewed into the design to personalize the quilt. Several military friends were in attendance to celebrate the honors.
Prudhomme Fort Chapter is active in the community to preserve American heritage by promoting patriotism and honoring veterans; providing scholarships for students seeking college degrees; and donating books to libraries for historical information and lineage research. Membership is attained by lineage proven to family ancestors who were colonists in the 1600’s. For more information, please call 842-7774.
