John Charles "Johnny" Helton, 80, of Ooltewah, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

 

Johnny was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class.

 

He was a 1958 graduate of Central High School, an avid oil painter, a member of IBEW 175 and retired from Nabco Electric.

 

He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard.

 

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sallie Dixon Helton; brother, J.T. Helton Jr.; sisters, Louise Wooden and Alline Burns.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Harvey Helton; sons, Kenneth Charles (Amy) Helton and

Jason Harvey (Dalene) Helton; two grandchildren, Kyle Reed Millsaps and Charles Walter Helton all of Ooltewah;  sisters, Lila Williams, Peggy Bowman, Bernice Sisemore, and Christine Murray all of Chattanooga, JoAnn (James) Splawn, Huntsville, AL; brother, Kenneth (Diane) Helton, Ft. Oglethorpe; brothers-in-law, Ken (Eleanor) Burns, Beaufort, SC and John Harvey, Chattanooga; many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Bill Mason and Frank Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Tyner Cemetery.
