McKamey Animal Services Seeks Information Pertaining To Dog Fight Victim

  • Wednesday, November 27, 2019

McKamey Animal Center is offering a $1,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of person or person’s responsible for the condition of a dog that fell victim to a dog fight. The center is asking for help from the public to help identify a person or persons involved with this case.

MAC Officers responded to a complaint of an injured dog that had been abandoned on the side of the road in a pile of garbage. The dog was severely injured with broken front legs.

Officials said, "MAC is seeking your help for information pertaining to the brown female pit bull discovered in the 3400 Block of Lightfoot Mill Road in the city of Chattanooga on Nov. 18. The dog had traumatic injuries and wounds from dog fighting.  Unfortunately, due to the extreme trauma from her wounds and the length of time she had been left on the roadside without veterinary care, the dog did not survive her injuries. MAC veterinary staff members discovered over 500 bite wounds on the dog. According to MAC officials this is not the first time dogs have been dumped at this remote location. It appears to be a site for dog fighters to leave injured and deceased dogs after a fight."

According to executive director Jamie McAloon, “We (McKamey) have zero tolerance for dog fighting and we’re going to utilize every resource we have to locate these individuals responsible and bring them to justice. This poor dog suffered horribly and anyone who could do that to an animal is a danger to all of society.” said Ms. McAloon.

Dog fighting is a Class E felony in the state of Tennessee. If you have any information or suspect dog fighting in Chattanooga, Red Bank or Lakesite call MAC at 423-305-6515, or leave an anonymous tip at 423-305-6508 or e-mail rcross@mckameyanimalcenter.org
