The Chattanooga Fire Department is investigating how a fire started at an old textile mill Thursday morning. It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the Standard Coosa Thatcher building on South Watkins Street.

A nearby resident called after seeing smoke.

Multiple crews responded to the scene and inside, they found a stack of pallets and old doors on fire on the second floor and they quickly extinguished the flames.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters carefully searched the entire building. No one was found inside.

Smoke will be seen coming from the structure for some time Thursday as a result of the fire, officials said.

CPD, HCEMS and Chattanooga/Hamilton County Rescue Mobile Rehab Unit assisted on the scene.
