Evelyn Marlowe, 89, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019.

She was born in Clyattville, Georgia in 1930. She met her husband, Harold E. Marlowe, while both were students at Norman Junior College in Norman Park, Ga. They married and moved to Florida where her husband’s family resided. Later, they moved to Atlanta where Evelyn worked at a local bank and was active in church work. In 1978, her husband accepted the position of risk manager at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, where she has resided until her death.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lakeview in Rossville.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Rhoda Copeland, seven siblings, and her husband of 67 years, Harold E. Marlowe. She is survived by her children Pam Stone, Julie Garcia (Estanislao), and Sam Marlowe (Ali), three grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, with the Reverend Patrick Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christians In Action at First Baptist Church of Lakeview, Rossville.

Her family would like to give special thanks to Southern Heritage Assisted Living in East Ridge for loving care for a duration of five years. Special thanks, also, to Amedisys Hospice in Chattanooga for their outstanding care during the past two years.
