3 Faculty Members Assaulted By Student At Sequoyah High School

Three faculty members at Sequoyah High School were assaulted by a student on Thursday morning, the Sheriff's Office said.

The faculty members suffered minor injuries and did not get medical treatment, it was stated.

The student is facing juvenile charges.

Officials said, "Earlier this morning, there was a verbal altercation at Sequoyah High School between two juvenile students. When an adult faculty member attempted to intervene, one of the students assaulted them.

"Two other faculty and/or administrative members came to their aid and were also assaulted during their efforts.

"The SRO responded and took action to get the student into custody. The student was transported to Children's Hospital for evaluation and released to a parent.

Once the investigation was completed, a determination to file petitions on the student with Hamilton County Juvenile Court was made for the following charges - three counts of simple assault, vandalism, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
