Kevion Hubbard Bond Hearing Delayed In Murder Of Kelvion Crayton

  • Monday, December 9, 2019

A pregnant witness stopped the bond hearing of a man who allegedly gunned down Kelvin Crayton and injured Jatoni Crayton.

Prosecutor Crystle Carrion had two witnesses ready to testify at a bond hearing for 19-year-old Kevion Hubbard. Hubbard was hoping to have his bond reduced, but the defendant will have to wait a few more days to have the hearing.

Prosecutor Carrion informed the court that one of the witnesses was pregnant and in the hospital. Because of this, she spoke with the two witnesses in attendance and agreed upon a later date to have the bond hearing. Defense attorney Fisher Wise was in agreement that another court date was needed, one that would be decided at a later time.

Hubbard, along with his sister, Sherquilla Hubbard, and friend Montrell Williams, allegedly drove to Bradt Street and got into a heated argument with the Craytons.  Witnesses later told police they heard multiple gunshots coming from the area before Sherquilla Hubbard allegedly drove the pair of men away.

Kelvin Crayton sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and he later passed away from this injury at a local hospital. Jatoni Crayton was shot in the back, and he survived his wound.

Kevion Hubbard was charged with employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, felony murder, and especially aggravated robbery. His sister was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Williams was charged with employing a firearm during a dangerous felony.

In May, Sherquilla Hubbard attempted to have her $300,000 bond reduced, but Judge Don Poole denied the motion.
