Sissy and Lex Tarunianz said Market on the Mountain will close on May 26.
The deli portion of the market will close May 19.

Lookout Mountain, Ga., just across the state line, once had a grocery, but it burned down many years ago and was not rebuilt.
Sissy and Lex Tarunianz sent this message:
To Our Valued Patrons,
Thank you for supporting the Market on the Mountain over the past eight years. We have truly enjoyed bringing what, we believe, was a wonderful asset to our community.
Unfortunately, when our current lease with Blackthorn House LLC, and its member, Jennifer Whitener, expired on March 31, 2019, we were unable to renegotiate an extension of the lease on terms that made any economic sense. The lease, coupled with a loan with First Volunteer Bank (made by the prior owner) a convoluted transaction, when added together in summary, has forced us to close.
Our employees have been notified that we will be closing May 26, 2019. We hope to proceed with an orderly divestiture of our inventory. We would greatly appreciate your help in this task. We plan to keep the Deli open until May 19 at this point. In the mean time and in the future, we will throw our full support and expertise behind anyone who chooses to build or operate a Market in Tennessee or Georgia.
We wish to thank Cecilia and our wonderful staff for all they have done for us and Lookout Mountain. Hopefully, a new opportunity will arise quickly and our community won’t be “marketless” for long.
Thank you,
Sissy and Lex Tarunianz
