Water Break On Cummings Highway Leaves Many Customers Without Water; Flow Returns At 4 PM

  • Friday, May 3, 2019

A water main break on a 12-inch pipe at Cummings Highway at Wauhatchie Pike is affecting around 10,000 customers. Officials said it affected "all of Lookout Valley." Everything was okay, however, by 4 p.m.

The break happened around midnight.

Tennessee American Water crews are working and hope to have it fixed by noon on Friday.

Officials said, "We are working to divert water to a six-inch pipe to slowly build some water back up for customers. Our first priority is to work safely for the community and crews and get water restored as quickly as possible."

The water company said on Friday afternoon, "The water has been turned back on through the affected area.

"Customers should run their COLD tap until it runs clear if they experience air or discolored water when they turn on their water.

"We appreciate everyone’s patience while our crews completed the repair safely."
