An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a former Hancock County corrections officer accused of having sexual contact with an inmate.

In February, at the request of 3rd District Attorney General Dan Armstrong, TBI agents began investigating Jacob Cole Heck, 34. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that Heck provided tobacco to a female inmate in the Hancock County Jail in exchange for sexual contact. The Sheriff’s Office terminated Heck’s employment.

On Monday, the Hancock County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Heck with one count of official misconduct. He turned himself in on Wednesday and was booked into the Hancock County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
