The city of Red Bank is currently making road improvements. City Manager Tim Thornbury said that the first part of the process has been completed by grinding Ashland Terrace in preparation for paving which will begin on Wednesday. Various other secondary roads are also being repaved.
The resurfacing project on Dayton Boulevard between Greenleaf and Browntown Road is on track, he said.
It is part of a Tennessee Transportation Improvement Project for which the city will receive both federal and state funds. Right of ways have been secured and Red Bank is now waiting for state approval in order to proceed to construction.
Police Chief John Wright received authorization to sign an agreement between Red Bank and the United States Department of Justice drug enforcement administration south Tennessee HIDT. The local High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force is made of representatives from multiple law enforcement agencies across Hamilton County. Red Bank has one officer who is assigned to this group.
New signors for bank signature cards were needed because of the unfortunate passing of Vice Mayor Terry Pope. Mayor Eddie Pierce said that all checks from the city must have the signature of an elected commissioner. Commissioner Ruth Jeno has agreed to take on that responsibility. The confidential drug fund bank account is in the same situation. Another resolution passed that gave Commissioner Jeno authorization to also sign checks from this account.
