At a public hearing held prior to the monthly city council meeting of Lookout Mountain, Ga. on Thursday, the millage rate was set for fiscal year 2019-2020. The new rate will be 9.54 percent per $100 of assessed value.
Property values are based on 40 percent of the total value put on the property from the county assessments. There is no change in the rate from last year.
Overall property values in the town decreased by $464 according to the assessor’s office. The town’s budget for 2019-2020 has been figured on collecting $84,067,628 in property taxes this year, as calculated by Walker County.
The millage rate passed unanimously at the 5:30 p.m. public hearing. The Lookout Mountain City Council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. began early when the public hearing closed with no questions or discussion from the pubic or the Council after Mayor David Bennett reviewed the numbers.
