U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Held Long Career With Kirby Vacuum

George Larry Witzel, 79, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away at his home on Friday, October 23, 2020, with family present. 
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Witzel, parents Ruby Witzel and Ray Witzel and one brother Bill Courtney.
 
He is survived by his children, Brad Witzel, Kevin Witzel and Dawn Witzel Lowery (Tom) of Chattanooga and Tammy Ponder (Jason) of Tullahoma,  grandchildren, Savannah Christopher, Gracie Ponder, Sophie Ponder, Charlotte Ponder and Bradley Witzel, sister, Sandra Witzel, of Chattanooga, and brother, Gary Witzel of Ocala, Fl.  
 
Larry was a 1959 graduate of Rossville High School and was a Marine Corps veteran.  He worked as a regional sales director and distributor for Kirby Vacuum for many years. He loved golf, Tennessee Vols football and spending time with his grandchildren.   
 
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. at Rossville Church of Christ at 1100 McFarland Ave., Rossville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.
 
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
