The Chattanooga Zoo will host its fourth annual after-hours event dedicated to animal enrichment, the Beastly Feast, at the Chattanooga Zoo on Friday, Nov. 20, from 6-8 p.m.
At Beastly Feast, guests will have the opportunity to observe the carnivores exercise their naturalistic behaviors and indulge in carcass feedings. Throughout the entire evening, guests will learn from the staff why carcass feedings and other animal enrichment is vital for the physical, emotional, and mental health of the animals.
In addition to the enrichment activities, Beastly Feast will offer the opportunity to purchase food and drinks at the zoo’s refreshment carts and restaurant, Wild Burger. There will also be cash bars that will serve beer and wine.
New this year, the zoo will be highlighting some of the tiniest of carnivores with a “Mini Beasts” temporary exhibit.
“Carcass feedings are very common enrichment practices within many AZA accredited zoos," said Chattanooga Zoo CEO and President Dardenelle Long. "Carcass feedings simulate feedings that would take place in an animal’s natural habitat in the wild, and we are excited to safely share this experience with our community once again."
To ensure the safety of guests and to allow for proper social distancing, this year’s Beastly Feast events has been altered as needed. This event will have a limited capacity and will require online ticket purchases only. Additionally, Beastly Feast will follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines set forth by the Zoo, the city of Chattanooga, and the Hamilton County Health Department.
Beastly Feast tickets are now available for purchase online. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit chattzoo.org. Online ticket purchasing is required for Zoo members and nonmembers.
