Veterans working on their storage shed
The Desmond T. Doss American Legion Post 257 invites the community to stop by their tent at the Freedom Festival on July 3 in Veteran’s Park, where they’ll be raising funds for additional storage space to support their growing activities and community service.
Officials said, "The American Legion Post 257 is an active part of the community, hosting many events and monthly meetings throughout the year. Members play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and patriotic spirit of Veteran’s Park by caring for and replacing the flags of all 50 states, as well as the massive 30' x 50' American flag that proudly waves over the park.
The Post also helps fund and maintain the bronze statues and decorative stars that honor veterans and enhance the park’s landscape."
To support these efforts, Post 257 will be accepting donations and raffling off a beautiful Patriotic Quilt during the Freedom Festival. They’ll also be selling popcorn and bottled water as part of the fundraiser.
"Families and kids won’t want to miss the authentic military vehicles on display, including a Humvee and a Korean War-era Jeep, perfect for checking out up close and snapping some great photos," officials said.
“Every dollar helps us continue the work we love—honoring our veterans and keeping Veteran’s Park a place of pride for everyone,” said Dennis Smith, commander of Post 257. “We hope folks will come see us at the festival, learn more about what we do, and enjoy the military vehicles and refreshments.”
"Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will directly support Post 257’s mission and storage expansion," officials said.
