Police said a Chattanooga man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and tortured her for two days, including throwing boiling water on her.

Erwin Tyrone Halfacer, 37, is charged with aggravated domestic assault and especially aggravated kidnapping.

The woman's daughter called police on Monday saying her mother had been missing since Saturday when she went to help Halfacer move.

Later on Monday, the mother went to the hospital suffering with what police called were "extensive and grievous" injuries.

The woman said Halfacer had asked for her help, but when she got there he pulled a large, black, semi-automatic pistol on her and would not allow her to leave.

She said he began to alternately strike her with the pistol, punch her and kick her.

At one point she said he stabbed her in the lower legs with a large kitchen knife. He then boiled a pot of water and threw it on her. Seeing there was still some water in the pot, he threw that on her.

Police said she had cuts and contusions on her head and face as well as stab wounds to her calves.

She had extensive burns across her entire body consistent with a splash pattern and severe enough to strip the skin from her body.
