2020 Rump Run For Colon Cancer Awareness Moves To Oct. 3

  • Sunday, March 15, 2020

In order to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants, the Greater Chattanooga Colon Cancer Foundation 2020 Rump Run 5K and Fun Walk for Colon Cancer Awareness at Enterprise South Nature Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3.

“We want to be mindful of the guidance shared by our state and local governments and do our part to help reduce the chances for COVID-19/coronavirus to spread in the community,” said race director Kayse Rigsby. “We hope our runners, walkers and colorectal cancer survivors will make plans to join us on Oct. 3 to show their support for the fight against colon cancer in our area.”

The Rump Run, now in its 10th year, is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early colon cancer screening and celebrating survivorship, while remembering those who lost their battle and supporting individuals and loved ones impacted by the disease. All proceeds further the GCCCF mission to increase community knowledge of colorectal cancer signs and symptoms, improve access to screenings and offer support to those touched by the disease in the greater Chattanooga area.

Participants who have already signed up will have their registrations honored on Oct. 3. All current donations and sponsorships will also apply to the October date. Registrants unable to make the new date can transfer their 5k or Fun Run registration to the event’s Bums in Bed category, which allows individuals to donate the cost of a signup and still receive a race T-shirt.

Individuals with questions or concerns may visit rumprun.com, email rumprun@gcccf.org or call 757-0730 for additional information.

The Greater Chattanooga Rump Run is presented by Galen Medical Group, and supported by founding sponsors CHI Memorial, Erlanger Health System, Parkridge Medical Group, and University Surgical Associates. Additional sponsors include EPB, Benchmark Physical Therapy, Brewer Media Group, Chattanooga Endoscopy Center, Diagnostic Pathology Services, Digestive Care and Management, First Horizon, HHM Wealth Advisors, Myriad Labs, PathGroup, and Service Electric Company.

Individuals or groups interested in volunteering at the Rump Run on its new date may call 757-0730 or go to www.rumprun.com to sign up.
