The Buccaneers outscored visiting First Baptist Academy in three out of four quarters to take a convincing 78-48 win in a DII-A East Region quarterfinal contest. Building a 43-28 halftime lead, Boyd Buchanan gave up a 10-point third quarter deficit before roaring back with a 21 point final stanza.
The Eagles’ Cooper Roberts led all scorers with 21 points on the strength of five treys.
The Bucs were paced by Caden Johnson’s 17 points, along with Ace Bailey with 16 and John Craw and Jacob Shockley with 11 apiece.
Boyd Buchanan will next host Silverdale in a semifinal contest on Thursday. The Seahawks were winners on the road, 48-47, in an exciting finish over CAK. Silverdale's Owen Neal hit a last second driving lay-up following a CAK trey to give his team the come from behind victory.
In another quarterfinal contest, Notre Dame defeated Concord Christian, 60-45 and will face Knox Webb on the road. The Spartans defeated Collegedale Academy, 93-41.
