Slatton, Ray Douglass

  • Friday, April 2, 2021

Ray Douglass Slatton, 70, of Loudon County, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly in a Knoxville hospital on March 27, 2021.

Survivors include his wife, Joi, brother, Greg (Jeri) of Tellico Village; sister, Bonnie (Iowa City, Iowa); several nieces and nephews and his beloved mini schnauzers, Bowser and Pippa.

Ray was a bit of a maverick, following his own path and usually meeting with success.  He was involved with several business ventures, among them: Riverbend Construction, Total Leasing and most recently with a product developed at ORNL.  Ray was a kind and generous spirit and loved sailing, travel and the “Parrothead” approach to life.  He made many people’s lives richer, and he will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. Ray's Dad's pet name for Ray was always "Percy", short for perseverance--a quality Ray held in abundance whether he was tackling a business issue or an unruly computer problem.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at a later date.
