Lee University junior right-hander Logan Workman has been named a third team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Workman was the ace of the Flames pitching staff and helped lead the team to a 36-11 record, third place finish at the South Region Championship, Gulf South Conference Regular Season Title, and a No.

2 National Ranking.

The 6-foot-4 flamethrower went 8-1 on the year with a 1.81 ERA. In 79.2 innings pitched he struck out 110 batters, including five games of double-digit punch outs.

Workman wrapped up his stellar career with a 4-1 victory over Alabama Huntsville in game one of the South Region Championship last Thursday. He worked into the ninth inning, allowing one run on four hits while striking out nine. Workman left it all on the mound, throwing 128 pitches.

“Logan has had a tremendous career at Lee and will soon be pitching at the professional level.  He’s grown so much as a pitcher and posted one of the most dominating seasons ever by a Lee pitcher,” said Lee head coach Mark Brew. “He has led this team to its most successful season in the NCAA era and he’s very deserving of this All-American honor.”

The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native is a lock to hear his name called during the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on July 11-13. Workman is projected to be a 3rd-5th round pick.

Zach Parrish of Missouri Southern was named the Pitcher of the Year. Parrish went 10-1 with a 1.30 ERA and struck out 127 in 83.1 innings. Haydn McGeary of Colorado Mesa took home Player of the Year honors as he hit a whopping .507 with 22 doubles, 17 home runs and 76 RBI.  McGeary’s skipper, Chris Hanks was named Coach of the Year.
