Pearlie Mae Smith, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021, in a health care facility.  

She retired from Memorial Hospital after many years of service. Pearlie Mae was a member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, but had been attending Silver Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oliver and Annie Edwards; father, Willis (Savannah) Hundley; mother, Mattie (Reverend Thornton, Sr.) Holden; sister, Susie Peters; brother, Carl Holden, Sr.; brothers-in-law, James Peters and Bobby McQuiddy. 

Survivors include her sons, George (Brenda) Martin and Larry (Faustina) Smith, both of Chattanooga; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Thornton (Vickie) Holden, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Thomas (Velvet) Holden of Harvest, AL, and James Holden of Madison, AL; sisters, Marie (Bobby) McQuiddy and Bobbie Ann Moore, both of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Hattie (Carl) Holden of Madison, AL; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Pearlie Mae will lie in state on Thursday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Pastor Tony Walliser as the eulogist. 

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
