Aubrey Taylor Garner, Jr., 89, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at his home.

 

Mr. Garner was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and all around great man to all that knew him.

 

He served until retirement in the United States Air Force and then was a semi-truck owner and operator with his wife and a member of the Teamsters Union until retirement.

 

He was an avid mechanic and owner of several classic cars with numerous trophies and awards.  He will be missed by those who loved him.

 

He was born in Sherwood, Tn., to Aubrey Garner, Sr. and Ethel Wells Garner, who preceded him in death along with his sisters, June and Joyce; brother, Donald Garner and two sons, Randy and Bill Garner.

 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sara Cole Garner; two children, Joyce Tramell and Larry Garner; four grandchildren, Michael, Terry, Carey, and Robert; sister, Diana (Slugger) Guinn and several nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 9-9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Hamilton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
