Hayes Wood, former Boyd-Buchanan soccer player, scored the game winning golden goal for Lipscomb University against Bellarmine on Saturday. Wood's goal came in the 99th minute with 13 seconds remaining the the first overtime period to clinch the ASUN Conference match. This was the first conference match for both schools. Lipscomb's record is 5-0-2. They have no losses for the year and are ranked 18th nationally out of 205 D1 soccer schools.
Former McCallie standout Thomas Priest is also on the team.
Lipscomb Men's Soccer jumped four spots in the United Soccer Coaches national poll this week, coming in at No. 18 on Tuesday.
The rankings were for games through Sept. 19. Lipscomb remains unbeaten after a draw and a victory last week. The Bisons played to a 1-1 draw against crosstown rival, Belmont on Tuesday and opened ASUN play with a 2-1 overtime victory at Bellarmine on Saturday.
Lipscomb will be back on the pitch Tuesday, Sept. 21st for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff at Butler.
