Ellis Wileman Pearson, 88, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on February 2, 2022, after a battle with cancer.

He was a loving husband, beloved father, doting grandfather and great-grandfather who was best known to his family as their “Grand”.

Ellis was born in Hillsboro, Tn., on Dec. 19, 1933, the seventh child of Felix Marks and Lou Alma Pearson.  He was known by family and friends alike as a Godly man of great character born out of his love for Christ who he gave his life to as a young man in 1960. More than anything, he wanted to be remembered as a man who loves the Lord. He was also known as a hard-working man of integrity who loved his family, particularly his grands and great grands.

Ellis was employed by Dupont and 3M but spent the last 12 years of his retirement at Food City in Hixson.  He was a member of Dallas Bay Church in Lakesite, Tn.

Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Gayle, the love of his life for their 65 years of marriage.  He is also survived by his five children, Greg (Kathy) Pearson of Hixson; Barry (Pennie) Pearson of Ooltewah; Steve (Glenda) Pearson of Hixson; Judi (David) Watts of Hixson, TN and Roger (Kellyn) Pearson of Soddy Daisy, as well as eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Hamilton Funeral Home, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, on Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 10, from 10:30 a.m.-noon followed immediately by the funeral service.  Reverend Ken Young and Reverend Steve Pearson will be officiating.  A private interment will follow at National Cemetery with just the immediate family.
