The Signal Mountain Playhouse presents The Game’s Afoot
The Signal Mountain Playhouse’s productions never fail to delight. NEVER! And the winter play, “The Game’s Afoot,” was wonderful. Directed by Garry Posey, the play was charming and riveting, jam packed with all manner of subtleties.
Roger Cass was back on stage as William Gillette, and he played the part just as perfectly as he played Albert Peterson this past summer in “Bye Bye Birdie.” His expressions are spot on and could draw you in without the utterance of a single word.
Mary Eliza Hendricks practically grew up on the Playhouse stage, so it’s not surprising she nailed the part of Daria Chase, the trouble making seductress. Rob Inman and Anne Rosa had the audience in the palms of their hands as usual, and the rest of the cast and crew were perfection, especially John Nichols, Emma Veys and Charlene Hong White. But Dani Clark may get the game ball this round for stepping in at the last minute for Maureen Davis who had to withdraw from her role as Martha Gillette, William’s mother. Dani is as comfortable on stage as she is hilarious on it, and, ironically, she played the part of Albert Peterson’s mother in “Bye Bye Birdie” as well!
Well done, all! And stay tuned for info on the Playhouse’s summer play, which promises to be absolutely outstanding! I promise, you don’t want to miss any production by the Signal Mountain Playhouse!
