CCS Hires Wes Moore As Head Basketball Coach

  • Friday, March 18, 2022

The Chattanooga Christian School athletic department named CCS and UTC alum Wes Moore as it's new head basketball coach.  Moore replaces Chris Fain who spent the last two years as head coach.

Moore is a 1996 graduate of CCS and a member of the 1996-1997 UTC team that made a Cinderella run to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. Coach Moore, a four-year starting point guard, led the UTC men’s basketball team to the NCAA Tournament as their all-time leader in steals and assists.

He is also a member of the 2011 UTC Hall of Fame.

Coach Moore is a veteran head basketball coach with a reputation for rebuilding basketball programs and developing high basketball IQ and disciplined teams.

"During our initial interview, it became clear that one of Coach Moore’s skill sets is building relationships with players that extends beyond the court," CCS athletic director Daniel Russell said. "His knowledge of our school’s mission and desire to use basketball as an opportunity to build God’s Kingdom is invaluable to leadership at CCS."

According to CCS, Coach Johnny Taylor, Associate Head Coach with the Orlando Magic NBA G-League, said “Wes Moore is the definition of hard work. I had the pleasure of watching him develop into an all-conference guard at UTC through sheer determination. His knowledge of the game is what allowed him to be effective when he faced tough opponents. CCS will be getting all of that and more with Wes running the show.”
