Sidney Lee went 4 for 8 with two doubles, a triple and a home run in Tuesday's DH at Carson-Newman.
The Lee softball team fell just short in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader at No. 21 Carson-Newman, 7-6 before rolling to an 8-0 shutout victory in game two.
Nyah Vogel (12-6) rolled to her 12th victory of the season with a complete game six-hit shutout. The Lady Flames offense did more than enough to back Vogel with a 16-hit offensive explosion, including a four-run first inning.
Every Lady Flame in the lineup had at least one hit and seven of the nine batters had two hits.
Lexie Scalzo drove in three runs and Janina Remley delivered a two-run homer in the seventh, her second longball of the day. Taylor De Adder, Sidney Lee, and Laney Harris added doubles.
Rogers (8-3) suffered the loss in the circle for the Eagles as she struggled to get out of the first inning, giving up four runs on four hits. Baker-Celis tossed the final 6.1 innings in relief, she allowed 12 hits and four runs.
"We couldn't outrun a bad start on game one, but we played better and responded well to get back in the game. We carried that momentum through the day and were able to play very well in game two. It's all lessons learned and growing as a team and as individual college softball athletes. Success isn't a direct path, but we are on a trajectory for sustained success," said Lee head coach Emily Russell.
The Lady Flames will have a rare mid-season off weekend. Lee gets back on the diamond on Tuesday as it visits King University for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

The Eagles would get the run right back in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a Lee error. Sidney Lee got the Lady Flames right back even at 6-6 with a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth before the seesaw scoring finally ended with a Holt double in the bottom of the fifth.
Sidney Lee finished the day 4 for 8 with two doubles, a triple and homer and two RBI to lead the Lady Flames offense. The freshman backstop is now hitting .362 on the year.
