Seven Tennessee PGA Professionals opened play on Sunday at the 2025 PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
With 312 golfers in the field representing all 41 PGA Sections nationwide, the entrants are hoping to parlay a successful showing into qualifying for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. to be held May 15-18.
The day proved to be a struggle for the Tennessee contingent, with Adam Forgey of Heatherhurst Golf Club in Crossville posting the best round at 2-over par to land in a tie for 118th.
Three professionals – Braxton Hunter of Knoxville’s Fairways and Greens Golf Center, Johan Kok of Nashville’s Troubadour Golf and Field Club and Chris McCue of Cherokee Country Club – all shot 5-over par to join those tied for 213th.
Others competing include Nashville’s Josh Bevell with Profectus Golf (6-over, T240), Allie Knight with Fairways and Greens (7-over, T264) and Chase Harris of Chickasaw Country Club (9-over, T293).
Monday’s second round will be broadcast live on Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. ET. A 36-hole cut will take place with low 90 scorers and ties advancing to the final two days.
