Robert Christopher Barger, 63, passed away during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 24, 2025 in his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Tennessee. He was afflicted with Basal cell carcinoma along with a number of other health issues from his long life of hard work. He owned Main St. Transfer and Storage before opening Alger’s Ware Branch Market. He was also a lifelong stamp collector.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. “Gene” Barger, his mother, Sandra “Sandy” Lee Roberts, his uncle, James “Jimmy” Masingill, his grandfather, Robert Lapsley “R.L.” Barger, his grandmother, Eloise Minnie Barger, his brother-in-law, Phillip Nathan Hodge, and his niece, Eloise Hodge.

Robert is survived by his stepmother, Peggy Ann Barger Salgado, his sister, Julie Dawn Hodge (Steve), his nieces, Jordan Carver (Joey) and Harley Hodge, his grandnephews and nieces (grandkids) Christopher and Phillip Carver, and Luna Mae Hodge, and his son and daughter, Robert Matthew Barger and Lilian Janette Barger.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 3-7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel.

Robert will be laid to rest in Old McDonald Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29.
