CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts volleyball team made the most of a trip to Walker Valley Monday as the Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 on the season with a 2-0 domination of the Lady Mustangs.
“I'm really pleased,” said head coach Dan Basler. “They have great coaches on the other side and a great program. I'm happy. It was a good win.”
The Lady Eagles were never under any serious pressure as they maintained a lead through the first set.
The Lady Mustangs fought back to tie the score at 17-17 before CSLA scooted ahead 20-17 and closed out the win with a 25-18 first set win.
Walker Valley held a slim 7-5 lead early in the second set before a kill by Amber Isbell put the Eagles knotted the score at 7-7. Minutes later Marisa Green served up an ace to put the visitors out front 9-7.
A Lauren Painter ace made it 14-11 and a Sydney Heisig kill kept the Eagles out front 15-13.
Green pushed the margin to three points with a kill as CSLA fed off momentum to build a 23-16 lead thanks to an ace off the hand of Isbell. Chloe Chapman finished off the night for the Lady Eagles with a final kill to seal the sseep with a 25-17 victory.
CSLA takes on Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy Tuesday and Lookout Valley Thursday before heading into tournament action at Ooltewah this weekend where the they will face Bradley Central, East Hamilton and Hixson
“I was pleased. We played good all the way around. We played great defense, we picked up a lot of stuff up. We played good offense also. I'm happy, said Basler.”
