In the final game of the season, the Lee University softball only scored one run in a 8-1 loss to Trevecca Nazarene University. The Lady Flames only managed five hits in the loss and finished the season with a 25-25 record and a 12-20 record in Gulf South Conference action.
Trevecca scored twice in the top of the first using three hits and an error to drive the runs across the plate. The next run for TNU came in the fourth on a solo home run from Brianna Asmondy.
T runs for Trevecca came in the fifth inning when Shea Hollingsworth hit a three-run home run.
Two final runs came in the seventh via a walk, single, and double.
Lee’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh. Kadyn Smith had a single to lead off the inning. After two outs, Bella Galloway had a single and Ava Perkins was walked to load the bases. Rylee Price then singled to score Smith.
TNU out hit Lee 10-5 while both teams had one error. Galloway was the only player with more than one hit for the Lady Flames. She had a double and a single.
Layne Bailey took the loss in the circle for Lee. She threw six innings and gave up eight hits and seven runs while striking out three. Alaina Watson threw one inning and gave up one run on two hits.
The Lady Flames ended the season with the second-best batting average in the GSC at .318. They also scored more runs than anyone else with 286. Mississippi College has 285 runs scored. Lee also has 442 hits which is 23 more than anyone else in the GSC. The Lady Flames also ended the season with the most RBI’s, and the second most stolen bases in the GSC. They had 262 RBI’s and 104 stolen bases.
Ana Macha finished the season with a .438 average which was tops in the GSC. She also led in hits with 77 and was second in stolen bases with 34. Alexa Scalzo scored more runs than anyone else with 58. Javaria Smith ended the season with 47 RBI which was tops in the GSC as well.
