David Lee Lyle, Jr., 78, of Chattanooga, transitioned into celestial peace at his residence surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the age of 78.

He was born in Courtland, Al., on April 10, 1947, to David Lee Lyle, Sr. and Edna Mae Lyle. David confessed hope in Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church.

David was a graduate of Howard High School and a retiree of U.S. Pipe Foundry Company. He was a very skilled and certified electrician. He was one of the first black electricians at U.S. Pipe Foundry. He was a master of his craft until he was unable to continue due to his health. He also enjoyed real estate, investment and home improvement carpentry skills. What he was unable to do physically; he was able to educate and train others in home improvement.

David’s personality was euphoric, and you just wanted to sit in the presence of his delight. He was full of wisdom, calm tempered, yet hilarious, the life of any party just a fun person to be around. He could find humor in many situations. David was an avid biz wiz player. He deeply loved his family. He found joy and excitement being with his family and friends. He was a strong patriarch within his family, exemplifying strength, leadership, direction, listener, support, and love. This wisdom was shown throughout his family and friends. David’s greatest role was Paw-Paw. He enjoyed and loved being a grandparent. His grandchildren brought a sense of enthusiasm to his life. He was a free thinker and believed in education. He believed in acquiring knowledge, skills, and values. David consistently followed up on his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren’s education as he always wanted them to be better with knowledge, growth and preparation for life.

Love has truly kept David; he did not complain through the many trials that came his way. His life could be summed up in the song verse: “I've had some weary days and some lonely nights, but when I look around and I think things over all of my good days outweigh my bad days, I won’t complain.”

David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Edna Mae Lyle, Sr.; mother-in-law, Ruby Jackson; sons, Dennis Lyle and LeDale Lyle; brothers, Clifford Lyle, Lester Lyle, Sr., and James Brown; sister, Betty Jean Toney and Delphine Smith; brothers-in-law, Ricky Smith, Dennis Smith, and Cleveland Toney; niece, Leslee Renea Phillips; nephew, Reginald Lyle; cousin, Cooper Lee Watkins; and best friend, Earl Love.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Wanda Faye Lyle; daughter, Marcey Lyle (Gregory) Belue of Chattanooga, TN; sons, Michael Lyle and Kelvin Lyle, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Airine Butts and Yvonne Bryant, both of Chattanooga; brother, Judge (Joyce) Lyle of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Maliyah Belue, Dennis Lyle, Jr., Jasmine Lyle Pickstock, Michael Lyle, II, Colin Lyle, Aniyah Lyle, and Haley Lyle; great-grandchild, Zion Pickstock; sisters-in-law, Angelia (James) Westmoreland, Denise Deere, and Tanza Freeman; brothers-in-law, Todd Smith, Lawaren Smith, and Kelvin Smith; a devoted nephew, Frank Blackwell; and best friend, Walt Lewis Jones; a host of family, other relatives and friends. Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

David will lie in state on Friday, July 11, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at noon in the chapel with Pastor Stephen Gilchrist as the Eulogist. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
