Ronnie Lee Duran, 77, of Rossville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2025.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1947, in Bridgeport, Al. He served in the Marines during Vietnam where he was awarded 3 Purple Hearts and part of the silent drill team. He was a police officer with the Rossville Police Department from 1969-1972 and he worked for TVA as an electrician. He was a member of IBEW, DAV, and Vietnow. He was an avid collector of old antique guns and enjoyed taking them apart and cleaning them. He also loved anything Vietnam, Marine Corps, CB radios, reading, bingo, and Harley Davidson. In addition to this, he loved making 3D puzzles and giving them away.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Edna Lovejoy, William C. Duran, and Mary Duran; and son-in-law, Michael J. Defreest.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 57 years, Judith Duran; children, Ronald L. (Charlene) Duran, Jennifer Defreest, Janet M. (Kristy) Galyon; grandchildren, Hayley A. (Travis Wratchford) Duran, Harley D. Moore, Ethan A. (Katelyn “Katie” Bailey) Moore, Christopher “Cody” (Cody Pierce) Moore; and best friend Mike Tolland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel Rossville, Georgia. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 p.m.
