Juanita Hamilton Smith, 82, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully in her home on August 21, 2025.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Hamilton and Frances Barksdale Hamilton. She is survived by her son, Robert (Tracy) Smith.

Juanita earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from UTC and was a labor and delivery nurse for over thirty years. She was very passionate about her profession and excelled in the field.

Juanita was an avid reader who loved learning about history. She also enjoyed cooking and puzzles of all kinds. Juanita truly had a heart for animals and kept many pets over the years.

Juanita was a kind and gentle soul who loved her family and friends. She never met a stranger and would do anything she could to help people. Juanita was a loving, supportive mother and faithful friend. She will be greatly missed.

In accordance with Juanita’s wishes, there will be no memorial service; however, a donation to the Humane EducationSociety can be made in her name.
