Kenneth O’Neal Stripling, Sr.
Kenneth O’Neal Stripling, Sr., 66, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at a health care facility in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1958, in Perry, Ga., to O’Neal Stripling and Juanita Pryor.
Kenneth attended Bethune-Cookman College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Police Science.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 27 years, Tresa Stripling of Helena, AL; his mother, Juanita Pryor of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Tamiesa Roberts of Jacksonville, FL, Tia Wordlaw of Orlando, FL, and Kyla A. Stripling of Nashville, TN; sons, Turnae Watson of Helena, AL, and Kenneth O. Stripling, Jr. of Nashville, TN; sisters, Katherine Stripling and Linda Pryor, both of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, O’Neal Stripling and John L. Pryor, and his brother, Vincent Pryor.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and protector. His life was a testimony to love, strength, and unwavering commitment. He faithfully provided for his family, safeguarded them with all his being, and never hesitated to express his deep affection and dedication.
At the center of Ken’s heart were his faith, his family, and his beloved Mount Canaan Baptist Church family. A true servant-leader, he lived out his faith daily through service and fellowship. At Mount Canaan, Ken gave generously of his time and talents, serving as a member of the deacons’ ministry, men’s ministry, finance committee, building committee, and Purpose Point committee. He also loved to sing and gladly stepped in wherever there was a need.
Outside the church, Ken enjoyed traveling, watching crime and mystery documentaries, and sharing food, laughter, and fellowship with family and friends. He never met a stranger, and every conversation with him left behind wisdom, humor, and warmth.
Professionally, Ken dedicated more than 43 years (1982–2025) of distinguished service to the nation as District Director for the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, in the Birmingham District Office. His career reflected the same guiding principles that defined his life: integrity, leadership, and service.
Ken was also a proud and lifelong member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., remaining loyal to the brotherhood until the very end. (Bark, Stomp, and Hop—if you know, you know.)
To know Ken was to carry a memory that will never be forgotten. His impact as a servant, leader, mentor, and friend will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Public viewing will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, followed by the funeral service at noon, at Mount Canaan Baptist Church, located at 4801 Hwy. 58, 37416.
