Schatzi Dorothy Eva Powell Woody, 78, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2025, while surrounded by her family and dog Missy.

Schatzi was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, omama and sister. She was an actual angel here on Earth.

Born in Linz, Austria, she came to America as a small child with her mother and father. She was a proud graduate from Brainerd High School class of 1965, and went on to become a hairstylist, model, secretary for A & C Ad agency and secretary for her husband’s company. After she met and married the love of her life Ronald McCoy Woody and they started their family, she became the best stay at home mother. She also enjoyed her work as a model at Loveman’s and Miller’s and later as a swim instructor at Choo Choo Dive.

Schatzi has been a faithful member of New Heights Baptist Church for more that 40 years. There she worked closely with the youth groups, sang in the choir and was a teacher for the ladies class. She loved assisting in the kitchen for Wednesday night meals, spending weeks in the summer teaching Vacation Bible School and going on trips to the beach with the teens.

Schatzi never met a stranger, and was loved by everyone who she met. Her spirit was kind and loving and people were naturally drawn to her. She was as beautiful on the inside as on the out and would go above and beyond in order to help or give to anyone.

Her mother and father, Marler and Eva Powell, in-laws Coy and Virginia Woody, her precious Aunt Jo and Uncle Eddie Macomber and Ankie and Uncle Ooch (Dorthy and Luther Roberts) and Casey Macomber eagerly greeted Schatzi upon her passing as they preceded her in death.

Those who will forever miss her are first and foremost, her beloved husband of 56 years, Ronald McCoy Woody. Her children, Coy (Shannon) Woody, Julie (Jim) Jones, Jamie (Craig) Sims, grand-children Derek (Casey) Woody, Hollyn (Justin) Walker, Stephanie (Jessie) Merciers, Samantha Eakin, Skylah Eakin, Preston Hill, Gracie (Alyissa) Hill, Shayli Sims, Paxton Sims, Taegan Sims,12 great grandchildren, brother Scott Powell, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins.

Schatzi’s greatest loves were her family and her Lord Jesus Christ which she served each and every day. She loved spending all of her time with her family and diligently prayed for each of them daily. Traveling with Ron for either pleasure or work was another great love.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Hearth Hospice and her day sitter Teresa Barber for their loving care.

Funeral services will be at Heritage South with visitation on Wednesday, July 9, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 10, at 12:30 p.m. with visitation from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The family will have a fellowship meal at New Heights Baptist church following the internment service.

Interment will be at the National Cemetery on July 10, 2025 following the funeral service.
