It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Edward Young, Sr., a devoted father, proud U.S. Air Force veteran, and a man of many talents, who left this world peacefully on Monday, July 7th, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on Feb. 20,1949, in Anniston, Al., Clarence lived a life marked by service, strength, humility, and an unwavering kindness that touched everyone he met. After proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, he continued a life of hard work and dedication in every role he took on—whether as a skilled carpenter, resourceful plumber, talented mechanic, or a man who took pride in making any lawn the greenest on the block. He did it all with a smile and without hesitation. He believed that no job was too small and no person unworthy of kindness. He was a steady, dependable presence in the lives of all who knew him.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Lou Bias Young and Bert Lee Young Sr.; his siblings, Robert Henry Young, Johnny Lee Young, and Dazrine Young.

He is survived and deeply cherished by his wife, Florida Young; devoted children, Florenda Young, Clarence (Hailee) Young, Jr. of Chattanooga,TN and Ericka England of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Sydelle Young of Knoxville, TN, Gabrielle Young, Kobe Smith, Kaytlyn Young, Chloe Young, and Calee Young all of Chattanooga,TN and Alexandria England of Birmingham, AL; and his great-grandson, Nayvadius Young, who were all his greatest joy. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Fannie Mae Stephenson of Oxford, AL, Jeanette Whatley of Anniston, AL, and Bert (Jeanette) Young Jr. of Gadsden, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends who were blessed to know him.

Public viewing will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 25, followed by the funeral service at noon in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423-622-9995.
