The Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation held its annual American Heroes Dinner on Friday, at the Chattanooga Convention Center, bringing together veterans, community leaders, and supporters to recognize the extraordinary bravery and enduring sacrifices of America’s severely wounded service members.

The evening served as a powerful tribute to those who have borne the cost of freedom, with a special emphasis on the mission of Honoring the Sacrifice: to provide direct support and resources to severely wounded post-9/11 veterans and their families. The event also paid solemn homage to the Chattanooga Fallen Five, the five servicemen tragically killed in the July 16, 2015 terrorist attack in Chattanooga. GySgt DeMonte Cheeley, who was wounded during the attack, spoke about his personal efforts to keep the memory of the fallen alive, and a video tribute honored their memory, reminding attendees of the deep sacrifices made close to home.

This year’s keynote address was delivered by retired Marine Staff Sergeant Johnny “Joey” Jones, a nationally recognized veterans advocate, FOX News contributor, and inspirational speaker. Mr. Jones, who lost both legs in Afghanistan, delivered a stirring message centered on resilience, patriotism, and the ongoing duty to serve and uplift one another. His personal journey and impassioned words drew a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd.

In addition to the keynote, the program featured testimonies from veterans impacted by the foundation’s work, highlighting how funding from the dinner directly supports housing improvements, mobility and lawn equipment, and educational opportunities.

“The American Heroes Dinner is not only a time to reflect on the cost of freedom but also a chance to come together as a community to support those who continue to live with the visible and invisible wounds of war,” said Catherine Smith, director of Community Outreach of the Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation. “We are especially grateful to have honored the Chattanooga Fallen Five.”

Now in its 11th year, the American Heroes Dinner has grown into a signature event in the Chattanooga community. The evening concluded with a renewed commitment to stand beside wounded veterans and Gold Star families—not just in word, but in tangible, life-changing support.
