I have lived in various places around the Chattanooga area, both GA and TN. I have never had a water bill as high as the ones I have incurred in Chickamauga, Walker County. When I was raising children, always having a house full, it was cheaper than I have as a single occupant household.
I wanted to improve my property and clean up. I pressure washed a fence and my house. I went to the water company to see if I could get a break on the sewer charges, as the water was going into the ground and not the sewer.
I was told they do not do that nor do they give breaks to people filling their swimming pools. I am bracing myself for a $200 water bill next month.
We, as members of the community, can use common sense and see this is a money grab. Walker County has been known to do that in the past, and it seems they are continuing the policy.
I use less than $8 in water. With fees, taxes and sewer, the cheapest bill I have seen in two years here is $56. This should never be the case for a single person.
If anyone is looking for a place to live, you should be forewarned, Walker County is
expensive, and not a great place, unless you have disposable income.
