Lee University junior theatre major Minnie Brock presented her set design at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Baltimore, Md., for the conference’s 76th Annual Convention.

Ms. Brock was a participant in the undergraduate set design competition at SETC and presented her set design from Lee Theatre’s production of “Castlewood.” She was one of only six to be selected for formal verbal adjudication before a live audience by renowned set designer Daniel Pinha.

Ms. Brock’s design was on continuous display during the convention in an expo hall for participants and attendees to observe throughout the week.

Anna Marie Brendel, assistant professor of theatre at Lee, accompanied Ms. Brock and four other students, along with Lee Theatre alumna Macy Tomasello, to SETC, where they took part in workshops, a job fair, and a graduate school fair. Other Lee students in attendance were Ellie Hicks, Maya Hyatt, Emily Farley and Brooke Jenkins.

“Here at Lee, we are grateful for the time and resources to be able to give our students these kinds of opportunities,” said Ms. Brendel. “We have great success with those of our students who choose to participate in professional auditions, job fairs, and design competitions at SETC and have seen a very strong and consistent job placement rate as a result. We are proud of our theatre students and are excited to be raising up the next generation of theatre professionals.”

SETC is the strongest and broadest network of theatre practitioners in the United States. It provides extensive resources and year-round opportunities for its constituents. SETC’s services, publications, and products contribute significantly to the careers of emerging artists, seasoned professionals, and academicians. SETC energizes the practical, intellectual, and creative profile of theatre in America.
