Madolyn Strahle Tankesley
Madolyn Strahle Tankesley was born on November 28, 1935, and passed away at the age of 86, on June 7, 2022.
A native of Chattanooga, Madolyn graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Madolyn was a longstanding member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Signal Mountain Garden Club, and the local Ostomy Association. She enjoyed gardening, watching football, playing bridge, shopping, and spending time with her family.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edwin Lawrence Tankesley, Jr.; parents, Phoebe Klein and Joseph J Strahle; sister, Florince Ann Strahle, and granddaughter, Breanne Oglesby.
Madolyn is survived by her five children; Brenda (Bill) Oglesby, Karen (Paul) Friedla, Judy (David) Hooton, Lynn (Kent) Grotefendt, and Mike (Beverly) Tankesley; eight grandchildren, Buck Oglesby, Austin Garnett, Forrest Hooton, Noah Hooton, Annalee Hooton, Chris Grotefendt, Adam Grotefendt, and Casey Ehlers; three great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass beginning at 10 a.m.
