WillowBend Farms will host their fifth annual Run For Their Freedom 5k run/1 mile walk at Greenway Park in Cleveland on Oct. 22. The race begins at 6:30 p.m.
“The reality is, we have survivors who are running for their lives, but you have the opportunity to help them
run for their freedom” said Sarah McKinnis, CEO and co-founder.
The purpose of this event is twofold: To bring awareness of the realities of human trafficking in the Cleveland
area and to raise funds for the organization.
This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000. That is enough to provide
two survivors with a year in WillowBend Farms’ holistic residential program.
In addition to the race, the event will bring a fun night of family-friendly activities to Greenway Park. There
will be music, games, food trucks and giveaways that last all evening until the candlelight ceremony that
follows the run.
Participants in the race and community members attending are encouraged to stay and take part in the
candlelight ceremony. “It is where we are able to honor those who have lost their lives through human
trafficking and those survivors who are trying to find life,” Ms. McKinnis said.
The public is invited to attend.
