Claude Edwin “Eddie” or “Ed” Hughes, 66, of Hixson went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2023.
He was an alumnus of Red Bank High and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Fisheries Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He worked for over three decades at TVA as a nuclear reactor operator. He was a very proud father and grandfather. Ed loved fishing with his dad, Gene, and was a passionate TN Vols fan. He loved taking drives in his Jeep. Ed enjoyed family gatherings and loved hosting elaborate Halloween parties with lots of spooks and fun. He was the decorator of the house, always changing with the seasons. After retirement from TVA, Ed became an avid outdoorsman and craftsman. He enjoyed the majesty of nature and all it beholds from the porch he built alongside his nephew in law, Jason.
Ed and his wife, Valorie, of 33 years loved crafting together and visiting the beach in October when the weather was just right. They enjoyed play time with their two dogs, Hannah and Ava, and numerous trips to the park.
He will always be loved and missed by his family and all those that knew him.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Gene Hughes.
Left behind to cherish Ed’s memory are his mother, Marlene Hughes, his wife, Valorie Hughes, sister, Kaye (Jim) Watson, daughters, Ashley (Justin) Flowers, Anna (Dan) Saeger, step-daughter, Jennifer (Markus) Bischof, grandchildren, Hunter; Jackson; Colette; and Logan, nieces, Robin (Jason) Hickey; Kelly (Nathan) Blanton; Bonny ( Shea) Scruggs and all their children.
