Community Invited To Preview Of Isaiah 117 House For Foster Kids

  • Friday, June 2, 2023

Friends of Isaiah 117 House, led by Sabrena Smedley, invites the community to a special preview of the Hamilton County Isaiah 117 House at the Chambliss Center for Children property at 315 Gillespie Road.

“When I heard about this ministry, I knew the community would get behind them 100 percent if they just knew about it,” said Mrs. Smedley.

Mrs. Smedley organized a group to spearhead the efforts to raise awareness and funds to furnish the house, stock the Giving Room, and fund the first year’s operating budget.

The community is invited to this special preview during the following dates/times.
Thursday, June 8, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Thursday, June 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 11, 2-4 p.m. Family Day

Chambliss Center for Children and Isaiah 117 House have partnered to bring the first Isaiah 117 House to Hamilton County which will provide physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement. Currently, when a child is removed in a county without an Isaiah 117 House, the child must wait in the child welfare services office until placement is located. This could be hours or even days. Instead, Isaiah 117 House allows children to come to a home with loving volunteers ready to care for them while DCS uses an on-site office to complete necessary paperwork. Children often leave their home with their only possessions in a trash bag. Isaiah 117 House has a Giving Room where volunteers pack bags with toiletries, brand new clothes, shoes and special goodies that are tailored for each child.

Isaiah 117 House at Chambliss Center for Children will provide for that child’s needs, whatever they may be, in these critical moments between removal and placement. To learn more about Isaiah 117 House or make a donation, visit www.chamblisscenter.org/isaiah117house or call 698-2456.
