Harlen Nance
Harlen McClendon Nance was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Harlen was born in Holland, Georgia, on November 9, 1936, to the late Porter and Rose McClendon. She passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Nance; brothers, Jim Smith, and Haywood McClendon; grandchildren, Kristie Nance Borders, Denzel Nance Borders, Shrena Bell, and Amir Tru Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ethel Nance and dear friend, Essie Hinton Brown.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia McClendon, Melvin (Sheila) McClendon, Carolyn Nance, Kondra Nance, and Robert Ellison; grandchildren, Kevin McClendon, Larone Daniel, Tamara Daniel, Jason (Latosha) McClendon Harvey, Nicholas Daniel, Latasha Borders, Dameion Ellison, Leslie Edwards, Laurence Howard, Edwin Cody, and Juwana Cody; great grandchildren, Alex McClendon, Dominique Daniel, LarTajai Daniel, Deasia Daniel, Maklia Daniel, Ayden Houston Daniel, Sophie Daniel, Kyrie Daniel, Khristopher Bell, Brandon Bell, and JaDaryl Bell; 19 great-great-grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson; other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm Friday, July 14, 2023 in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
